How many times have you tried to succeed at something, then failed? How many times have you thought, "I want to quit"?
If you lost count, then you're in the right club!
But let's take a brief, yet different, look on this word "failure". "Failure" is a title that we don't like to give ourselves. Yet in our struggles, we label ourselves based on our performance. Instead of looking at our failures as limiting, we should change the meaning from "I quit" to "I am learning". Failure is often tied to quitting. But it doesn't have to be.
If we look at our failures as a string of lessons that are teaching us how to succeed, we can brush off the feeling of shame and regret that oftentimes come with failing. It could be that you are struggling with your finances, failing at paying the bills on time due to funds being held up or some such. Instead of looking at your financial outlook as a fail, look at it as a lesson that needs to be learned about better financial planning and budgeting.
If you look at your grades in school or college and think, "I'll never get the top score or the highest GPA", then that's what will happen. But if you look at your grades and think, "I'll am learning from my mistakes and will do way better next time", then that's what will happen.
Failure isn't final. Failure gives you the lesson after experiencing what doesn't work. It's okay to fail multiple times before gaining one success. Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, and a slew of other Billionaires all failed when they first started their business ventures. But they did not allow those failures to count them out. They took their failures and learned what didn't work. From there, they improved upon what did work.
If they could tell you one thing, that is to not look at failures as bad things. Instead, see it as a lesson to be learned. So, don't be afraid to try again. Because now, you will be trying from experience!
Challenge: Whatever failures you come across, see each one as a lesson to be learned. You will rise above and succeed in whatever endeavor you are working on. Write down in a journal how you feel with each failure and what lessons you can learn from those failures. And once you succeed, you can look back on what didn't work and be glad that you never gave up!
Until then, this is TinyBoss signing off!
