In football, strategizing the right moves is the key to securing victory. Whether it is maneuvering down the field or angling your trajectory for the big throw, flexibility is vital in football. If one is not flexible in planning, the whole team suffers a large defeat for it. In the marines, there is a saying they use to summarize the importance of staying the course: Improvise. Adapt. Overcome.
I.A.O.
On your success journey, there will be times that plans fail. This requires that you go back to the drawing board. Improvise.
There may be times when you enter a new work environment that requires you to change your strategy to fit the new work conditions. Adapt.
And there will definitely be times when you make mistake after mistake, failure after failure, and you encounter roadblocks and obstacles. Overcome.
Success is not a straight shot. It comes with twists and turns, winding paths and curves, jagged hilltops and deep valleys. All of that is part of the journey. Sometimes, we discover our true worth in the difficult times. Maybe now, you might be in a rough patch in life. That's okay, it's part of the journey. How you handle the tough times will ultimately determine your strength and resilience.
Here are some things that can help you stay the course on your success journey:
Journal your Journey. There are a ton of journaling apps out there. One that we recommend is the Calm® App. Not only are there meditation sessions built in, but there is a daily check-up section that gives you journal prompts to write about. Journaling your success journey will help you see how far you have come, and how far you can go.
30 Minutes/Day. Take 30 minutes a day to research your passion, your career, your job, or your new lifestyle change. Take notes on what techniques you can use to improve yourself. For example, YouTube videos that show you how to grow your leads list is a great way to build your business or career. The average video is 10 minutes long, which gives you an extra 20 minutes of note taking and review/reflection.
Take Small Steps Of Action. Some of us are thinking about success as one, giant leap. That's not always the case. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. It's the same principle with our success journey. How do you make it to your goals? One small action at a time. These small actions can be changing your sleep schedule, turning off notifications on your phone, or reading inspirational books and articles every day.
There are other steps along your journey. But, let's start with these three suggestions. After all, the key is to build up a new habit that positively points you in the right direction. As long as you remember I.A.O., you will succeed in everything you put your focus to. We hope this post has been insightful and helpful in your success journey.
