Proven Principles Of Success Series | Pressure = Power

Imagine your favorite superhero (be it Marvel or DC). Now, if that superhero was indestructible and invincible throughout the entire movie, would that make for an interesting movie? For example, they don't have a weakness; they defeat every villain with ease; they are not under any pressure to save the world. All of these things would label them as an Invincible Superhero with Infinite Power. They'd be even more powerful than Superman (and that's pretty powerful).

But, like Superman, every hero has their own version of "kryptonite". And when they face that kryptonite, they come under immense pressure. This pressure shows their vulnerable side. At the same time, it also shows how resilient and determined they are to find a solution to their problem. The pressure was necessary for the climax of the story; and for the superhero to develop their character.

It's the same with us! We can try to wish away a life without pressure. Yet, a life without pressure results in a life without developing power. This power is not about shooting lasers out of our eyes; nor is it tapping in to superhuman strength and picking up buildings. No, this power is a determined spirit and a resilient heart that no amount of kryptonite can diminish. It can only be revealed through pressure.

Pressure looks like this: your back is against the wall and there is no escape; your resources are running dry, and there are no other possible solutions; everyone discounts you and leaves you all alone; too many roadblocks halt your recovery, and the doctors have tried all available medicinal options at their disposal; your counselors tried to give you the therapy you needed, but nothing worked to help ail your addiction or mental illness.

What solutions are there, when there are no known solutions presenting itself? The solution is as simple as pray. Being still and getting quiet can often result in presenting solutions that no one has revealed to you. Only through God can you receive such solutions to life's immense pressure. Not only that, but sometimes the solution is as simple as going backwards, even with your back against the wall. Going backwards can be a way to move forward. It means falling back to the basics. Think about it this way: When you're out in the wilderness and your resources run dry, the basics you learned at camp can always save you and help you survive until help arrives.

The same concept can be said about your finances. Saving money, budgeting, and researching ways for your money to grow - all of these are basic solutions all financial advisors give. For health, eating more vegetables and leaner meats are basic instructions every nutritionist recommends. For business development, recreating a business plan or roadmap and improving the mission statement are ways to revive a starving business. The list goes on and on. Going back to the basics can help develop a power to rise above the pressure.

If you are facing pressure, don't worry! You're not alone. The majority of people post-COVID are facing immense pressure to help provide for their families and themselves. Know this: with pressure comes the power to rise above it! Don't allow fear or anxiety to weigh you down. You were meant to be a problem-solver. So today, face the pressure with a new boldness, for you will rise to new heights! All in all, you can handle the pressure!
