Proven Principles Of Success Series | "The Secret" Revealed

"The Secret" is a movie all about unlocking the doors to success in life. A widely acclaimed film brought success coaches and gurus to share with the world the secret of true success in all areas of life. But did you know that "The Secret" really wasn't a secret? Did you know that the movie only revealed two truths that were right in front of our faces all this time?

If we really paid attention in Sunday School, "The Secret" was revealed in two key verses that have been quoted, but never truly explained or lived amongst those in the majority of Churches:

"The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." - Proverbs 18:21

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will." - Romans 12:2

"The Secret" was revealed way back in Solomon's and Paul's day, thousands of years ago! Yet, here we are in modern society, rehashing the same principles in a popular movie. If you don't believe this concept, consider this experience by Ms. Diamond Johnson, who is not only an entrepreneur; but also an avid gamer:

"I've been playing a lot of Final Fantasy XIV recently. And what I learned just from following the storyline of that game actually shocked me! In one moment of the story, the character travels back in time to a period where the denizens they encounter all have this special ability. They can conjure up any being they want by simply thinking about it. They call these beings "concepts", and they range from large beasts to small animals. These powerful ancients can instill their feelings and personalities into these concepts. And the character I play was shocked when she saw how easy it was for them to give their thoughts shape and form.

That's when it dawned on me: This game is teaching a biblical principle without even trying. Gandhi said it best: "A man is but the product of his thoughts; what he thinks, he becomes". If we think about something negative and place our feelings on that negative thought, we basically ask it to come to pass. If I think about how disgusting the pizza is going to be before I eat it, I take a bite out of it and I automatically revolt at the taste. However, if I think the pizza is going to taste great and I eat it, I marvel at the spices and the seasonings used in the pizza. A lot of psychological studies have been conducted on this idea on what the bible has been trying to teach us all along. The same is true with what the 1% have been telling us: If you think and believe you will be successful, chances are you will be successful. If you think you're a failure, chances are you are a failure. Our thoughts and words can shape our reality. That is what God gave us, one of the many gifts we have. We can operate this gift in faith or in fear. The choice is ultimately ours.

When I realized this, I decided to take my journal and write down on one page all of the negative statements I had in my mind. That way, I can pull them out of me. And on the next page, I rewrote those sentences into positive statements. Lastly, I decided to speak those positive phrases at least 1-3 times a day; and to say them with a smile on my face and with feeling.

Since then, my trading has improved, my confidence has gotten stronger, and I have been confidently deciding on what opportunities are best for me and the goals God has given me to focus on. My focus and goals have been clearer than ever before, and I practice gratitude with ease.

Speaking life and shifting my thoughts to success-filled, positive thoughts is a freeing thing indeed. And in the words of the Apostle Paul: "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:12-14"

Now that the "secret" is out, what are some goals that you would like to focus on? What steps of action will you take to see those goals realized? Let us know in the comments below!
