"Wealth, like a tree, grows from a tiny seed. The first copper you save is the seed from which your tree of wealth shall grow. The sooner you plant that seed the sooner shall the tree grow. And the more faithfully you nourish and water that tree with consistent savings, the sooner may you bask in contentment beneath its shade." - Algamish, The Richest Man In Babylon, page 24
Humble beginnings have us start somewhere. We may have a piggy bank, which we deposit a quarter or penny in it. But the more we deposit, the bigger our piggy bank grows. And the more it grows, the fuller it gets. The foundation of all wealth begins at the beginning.
You see, we aspire millions, but don't know how to handle pennies. The reason could be that we have a 9-5 mentality, which says that we must always make money per hour. This is a paradigm that needs to be shifted in the world of wealth. You cannot have a 9-5 mentality in the world of wealth.
If you want to be a part of the 1%, you have to have a long term mindset! A 9-5 mindset thinks short-term profits. The 1% mindset thinks long-term profits. This applies heavily in the world of investing.
If you are one of our Forex students reading this, you will have, no doubt, heard this principle: You cannot have a 9-5 mentality in the world of forex. The 9-5 mentality says that one can earn $20/hour every day in forex. That is not always the case. One day, you can earn $100. The next day, you can lose $50. The day after that, you can earn $500. And the day after that, you can earn $0. It all depends on the movement and volatility of the market, plus other factors we go over in the gold member classes.
No matter how you look at it, wealth truly does grow from a tiny seed. One can become truly wealthy if they double their pennies every day for 30 days. One can even become wealthy with whole life policies and allowing their cash value to grow. There are infinite ways to become wealthy. But none of those ways can truly guarantee success if the person cannot accept starting off small.
In fact, there is nothing wrong with humble beginnings. When one starts from the beginning, one has the upper hand, than someone who doesn't start at all. Someone who always twiddles their thumbs cannot possibly achieve anything. Whereas one who works with their hands in achieving great wealth can accomplish anything.
If you are starting from the beginning, then you are on the right track! If you are starting over, you are on the right track. The only wrong track is if you are not starting at all, waiting for life to hand you a silver platter (which will never happen). If you desire to truly be a part of the 1%, start from the very beginning, and work with the little that you have. It's better to start small than win the big lottery cash prize. Starting off small can teach you how to handle millions. Winning big from the start gives you the hard lesson on how to lose millions. As the bible has stated, don't despise the day of small beginnings.
